Are you travelling with small children?
Both long haul and short haul flights can be very tedious for children. Although most aircraft have superb entertainment programmes on board these days, one of the most useful tips I was ever given when my children were young, was to take something along to keep them entertained. A new backpack or rollaboard case whihc they do not see before you start he journey, filled with their favourite snacks and a selection of inexpensive bits and pieces can make the difference between a nightmare journey and a pleasant one. A few suggestions (depending on age and sex): small box of Lego, Duplo or something similar, small easy to do puzzles, colouring books and pencils, magic screen, small easy-to-read books, a little dool and some outfits, etc. Snacks may be muesli bars, box of sultanas, small packets of crisps, some fruit or vegetable sticks, etc. You will be far more knowledgeable about what your child /ren will enjoy. Please remember that whether you travel interstate or internationally, there are restrictions on the importation of foodstuffs, so anything that was not consumed on the journey, may need to be disposed of. Give them only one item at a time, and have little surprises to keep pulling out of the bags.
Do also remember to take a change of clothing to change them into just before arrival. This will mean that you are not constantly stressing about the state of your children's clothes during the trip or if there are accidents on the way, and everyone will be far more relaxed. Shortly before landing you can take the children to the toilets, and clean them up and change them. So easy!
