United States of America

   Minimize

New England in the north east of the country, was home to some of the first settlers from Europe (mainly English), most of which were fleeing from religious persecution and in search of freedom to practice their preferred religion. This region has a vast history and is perhaps most famous for its fall foliage and covered bridges, lobsters and not forgetting the famous Boston Tea Party.
The Capitol Washington DC USA   Perhaps the most visited region on the East coast would be the mid-Atlantic region, which includes such locations as New York, Washington DC and Philadelphia. A visit to New York at any time of the year offers the visitor so much to do: stroll through Manhattan and head to Time Square (the place to be on New Year’s Eve), Central Park or the Empire State Building. Visit one of New York’s famous Art Galleries or Museums, take a ferry out to Staten Island and view the Statue of Liberty. Go shopping on 5th Ave, wine and dine at any one of the 1000’s of restaurants, and if nightlife is your thrill, this is the place to be. Visit one of the exclusive nightclubs – you may be surprised who you bump into! - or take in a show or two on Broadway.
Washington DC, the nation’s capital, is home of the famous White House, the President’s residence whilst in government. Some of the other famous buildings and places worth a visit in Washington are The Capitol, the Lincoln Memorial, National Air and Space Museum, Smithsonian Institute, 6 Flags Theme Park, to name but a few.

Key West Florida USA  The South is the region most people associate with the Civil War, large plantations and antebellum homes, the genteel people and “Gone With the Wind” type lifestyles. This is the home of Country and Western and Blue Grass music, the Grand Ole Opry, Jack Daniels, Gracelands, and Steam Boats on the grand Mississippi River. Further to the south you’ll find Disney World near Orlando, the Kennedy Space Centre, the beaches of Miami, the Florida Everglades where alligators lurk in wait for the unwary, the famous Florida Keys. Perhaps one of the biggest parties in the world can be found at the Mardi Gras in New Orleans, the home of jazz.

Mt Rushmore South Dakota USA  The American Midwest is the country’s agricultural breadbasket, and showcases the Great Lakes as well as Chicago, where you can visit the Skydeck on the 103rd floor of the Willis Tower for a bird’s eye view, cruise the lakeshore or visit Navy Pier. Detroit is the spot to head for if cars are your passion, with the Henry Ford and Walter P Chrysler museums. Further afield in South Dakota, you will find Mt Rushmore, where the heads of 4 American Presidents have been carved into the mountain. Close by is the rugged beauty of the Badlands National Park, one of the world’s richest fossil beds.

Monument Valley USA by Travel and Cruise Fundamentals  Imagine you are watching a Western – plenty of desert, prairie and canyon lands. This is America’s Southwest. From the cattle ranches of Texas, or the deepest canyon in the world: the Grand Canyon in Arizona, to the ruins of the manmade Chaco culture, get your camera out for stunning pictures of the stark beauty found in this region.

Disneyland California USA by Travel and Cruise Fundamentals  And then we have the “Wild West” – home of rolling plains and the legendary American cowboy, Los Angeles and Hollywood, San Francisco and Las Vegas, The Rocky Mountains and Death Valley and the magnificence of the state of Alaska. This region, America’s West, offers a great diversity from desert to ocean, the national phenomena of Yellowstone  and ancient glaciers to the manmade city of Las Vegas located in the desert of Nevada, home to casinos, dancing girls and the launching pad for a sightseeing trip to the Grand Canyon, and close by Zion and Bryce National parks. Who could forget Los Angeles, Hollywood and the coastal area to San Diego, and of course the original Disneyland! San Francisco still beckons you, wearing flowers in your hair or not. Move up the coast to the magnificent Alaskan coast line and the wilderness of the interior - the last frontier!
Honolulu Hawaii USA  Lastly but by no means least, are the beautiful islands of Hawaii - what a contrast!! From luscious rain forests to the apparently barren earth surrounding active volcanoes on the largest island of Hawaii, surfing some of the largest waves in the world, to sundrenched beaches featuring lithesome bikini clad bodies, Hawaii is the epitome of a relaxing sun drenched beach holiday. And if you feel the urge to dabble into a little history, well, Hawaii has plenty of that as well.
