Ski and Snowboard in New Zealand

There are 4 main areas for skiing in New Zealand: Queenstown, Wanaka, Methven / Mt Hutt on the South Island and Mt Ruapehu on the North Island, although several other areas boast ski slopes which are mainly frequented by locals. Accommodation in New Zealand is generally off piste.

The most popular region is around Queenstown, which offers such slopes as The Remarkables, Coronet Peak and Cadrona and Treble Cone. Mt Hutt is the closest ski slope to Christchurch, and day trips can be arranged for those with a limited time but wanting to have a taste of skiing
